I would exspect it should work very well if the PCI is correct, if it match your other computer parts, and if it's configured correct. I don't have exsperience with firewire soundcards connected thru PCI interface. If your soundcard have a USB buffer setting, then i guess you can run at 2-3 ms. Check with Focusrite about the cable specs needed.Ībout soundcard settings i would believe you will be able to run 24 bit, 44100 or 48000 hz samplerate (Try both settings - sometines there is a difference.), and a buffer at least between 192 - 512 samples.
FOCUSRITE ASIO DRIVER LOUD DRIVERS
Do you use the native focusrite drivers like you should? Do you get sound from it? Also be sure you use a proper USB cable and try more USB ports as there can be a difference. I'm a bit concerned you say your Focusrite send out a high pitched sound when it's connected. You can find more about this many places.
Also shut down applications and services you don't need to have running. At least set it to high performance in the powersettigs. But also optimize your PC for audio performance. Your PC specs is otherwise good enough to get many things done okay i would believe. If you have a Focusrite soundcard then it's much better to use that. I think you can have issues both with your hardware performance and with your level settings of all kinds. I can recommend you watch the video in the link i have posted in this thread: If you do have a signal over 0 db somewhere, then you get distortion.Īlso when your hardware can't keep up with your demands you'll get crackling/ distortion.
No levels in any part of the signal chain must ever go over 0 db.
